Scott.
Innovation across sport and cycling.
Scott is a bicycle brand with innovation at its very core. Its story actually began not with bicycles, but with skiing. In 1958, the American engineer and skier Ed Scott developed a lightweight, tapered aluminium ski pole that was markedly different from the bamboo and steel poles of the time. The invention marked the beginning of Scott and laid the foundations for a company that has since worked purposefully on technology, low weight and sporting performance.
About the brand
Scott: Innovation across sport and cycling
Scott is a bicycle brand with innovation at its very core. Its story actually began not with bicycles, but with skiing. In 1958, the American engineer and skier Ed Scott developed a lightweight, tapered aluminium ski pole that was markedly different from the bamboo and steel poles of the time. The invention marked the beginning of Scott and laid the foundations for a company that has since worked purposefully on technology, low weight and sporting performance.
Scott entered the cycling world in 1986, when the brand launched its first mountain bike. Three years later, Scott introduced an aerodynamic handlebar that Greg LeMond used during his famous victory in the Tour de France in 1989. Development continued in the early 1990s with Unishock suspension and the first full-suspension Scott mountain bikes. This cemented the brand’s position as a manufacturer unafraid to challenge the way bicycles were built.

Every bicycle is dismantled, inspected and rebuilt. We replace worn parts, adjust gears and brakes and test-ride it before putting it up for sale.

Scott bicycles with a focus on speed and low weight
Over the years, Scott has made low weight one of its clearest hallmarks. In 1995, the brand launched its first carbon mountain bike, Endorphin, and several lightweight road frames followed in the early 2000s. The Scott Team Issue came with a frame weighing under one kilo, while the CR1 later placed further emphasis on the brand’s work with lightweight carbon construction.
Today, Scott’s range is broad, but the focus on efficiency and performance is a recurring theme.
An older Scott bicycle can still have plenty to offer
Scott has produced many bicycles that are still interesting today. These include lightweight road bicycles, classic mountain bikes from the 1990s and more versatile models that, with the right preparation, can become excellent everyday bicycles.
At ReRide, we do not just look at age or the original setup. We look at the quality of the frame, the geometry and the possibilities for creating a bicycle that once again feels fast, safe and comfortable to ride. Some Scott bicycles deserve to be restored with respect for their original look, while others are ideal starting points for a city bike or café racer.
If you have an older Scott bicycle that needs a new life, you are welcome to visit our shop and workshop on Peter Bangs Vej. We are happy to help assess whether the bicycle should be restored, upgraded or converted so it can get back out on the roads or into the forest. At ReRide, we work to reuse and refurbish bicycles to give them a new life.
