Trek

At ReRide, we are proud to give a new life to some of the world’s most iconic bicycles, and Trek is no exception. Trek is one of the largest bicycle manufacturers in the world and is known for its advanced technology, innovative design and superior performance. It all started in 1976 in Waterloo, Wisconsin, USA, where two cycling enthusiasts, Richard Burke and Bevil Hogg, decided to create a new type of bicycle – one that combined craftsmanship and technology.

At the time, European brands dominated the bicycle market, but Trek wanted to change that by producing high-performance bicycles in the USA. They began by making hand-built steel frames and quickly developed a large following among serious cyclists.

All about Trek bicycles

Trek is known for its wide range of bicycles, but road bicycles in particular have made it a favourite among professionals and amateurs alike. They have a strong reputation in cycle sport and have supplied bicycles to some of the world’s biggest teams and riders over the years.

One of the things that makes Trek unique is its focus on weight and aerodynamics. Many people ask: How much does a Trek bicycle weigh? The answer depends on the model, but their top carbon-fibre models can weigh as little as under 7 kg, making them extremely light and fast. Their advanced OCLV carbon-fibre technology means that the bicycles are not just light, but also incredibly strong and durable.

Besides road bicycles, Trek also produces mountain bikes, electric bicycles, gravel bikes and city bicycles, but it is particularly their road bicycles such as Madone, Domane and Émonda that have put them on the map. Trek has also developed its IsoSpeed technology, which provides increased comfort by reducing vibrations from the road, making their bicycles ideal for long distances.

Trek vs. Specialized – Who makes the best bicycles?

Trek is often compared with Specialized, as both brands are among the largest in the world and offer similar types of bicycles. So who makes the best bicycles?

Trek is known for its advanced carbon-fibre technology and innovative suspension systems, particularly in road bicycles and mountain bikes. They also have a wide range that suits both beginners and professionals. Specialized, on the other hand, has a strong focus on aerodynamics and precision, particularly in road bicycles. They have developed their own Rider-First Engineered™ technology, which ensures an optimal balance between weight and stiffness.

When it comes to comfort, Trek often scores points for its IsoSpeed technology, which provides a more comfortable riding experience on uneven terrain. In contrast, Specialized is known for its aerodynamic frame design, created for maximum speed.
