Keep your bicycle running all winter
Salt, sleet and darkness are hard on the chain and paint. Four simple habits that extend your bicycle’s life.

Salt is the main culprit
Winter wears down what you cannot see most: the chain, cassette and bearings. Road salt strips grease from the chain, and then everything starts wearing out faster at once.
Rinse, dry, lubricate
Rinse the bicycle with lukewarm water after a salty week, dry the chain with a cloth and lubricate it again. It takes five minutes and is the most effective maintenance there is.
Watch the tyre pressure
Check the tyre pressure every other week. Cold tyres lose air more easily, and a soft tyre is more likely to puncture on edges and kerbs.
Lights and brakes before dark
Check the brake pads and lights before the darkness really sets in. And drop by the workshop if a new noise appears — a noise is always cheaper to fix than when it turns into a breakage.

Shall we take a look at your bicycle before winter? You will find us in the workshop on Peter Bangs Vej.
